Everyone loves this book and I feel so, so bad that I didn’t.
I really enjoyed the beginning, getting to know this futuristic, dystopian world Ender lives in. However, my enjoyment dwindled as I read on.
Firstly, Ender, his siblings, and all the other children we see in this book (the ones that got accepted into this training facility) are “exceptional.” However, there’s nothing that rings true about them as 6-11 year olds. They act and think like they’re 16+. I get that they’re not normal kids, but it irked me a bit.
Secondly, the plot got really repetitive. I won’t lay out the details of what happened, because spoilers, but I found myself thinking “rinse, repeat” several times throughout.
I definitely get why this book is so well loved and treasured in the hallowed halls of classic sci-fi, but overall, it wasn’t for me.

Still a great read, despite the author’s shortcomings
I wasn't sure whether to do three stars or four, because I didn't get that "wow, that was a really great reading experience" feeling, but it's been hours since I stopped reading and I'm still thinking about it, so.
Did not know Card’s values when I started reading this, very big sad face on that end - do not buy his books but definitely find them used or at the library because it was so good!!!!
