Very cute and fairytale-like. Perfect Christmas read and I can't wait to see the ballet next year.
My first read of 2020! Sadly this story wasn't what I imagined it to be. Because of the ballet I got an idea about the story and certainly that is not the story in this book. Does that make the story bad? No not at all. It is enjoyable; consisting of different small story's making a bigger one. There is charm in the whole and beautiful messages. However I did not enjoy it because it was not thé story. The one I had in mind and lived for since I was 5 and saw the ballet for the first time.
Special shout out for the illustrations. They are artworks indeed and do make this book a delicate price in possession.

Eine wirklich total süße Geschichte. Der Schreibstil von Hoffmann hat mir aber leider nicht so wirklich gefallen und er verliert sich zu oft in Details, finde ich.
El cuento del Cascanueces siempre me gustó muchísimo y, si bien disfruté de leerlo, me encontré con pasajes que claramente detonaban el tiempo en el que se escribió y que no me terminaron de convencer. En general me pareció una buena lectura, rápida, dentro de todo divertida pero no tan navideña como quería/recordaba.
I loved this! Fun, whimsical, and beautifully written. This edition is absolutely exquisite as well! Thankful for a good friend who gifted me this book for Christmas, knowing how well I love the ballet!
