Przyjemnie się to czytało, ale sama nie wiem czemu brakowało mi czegoś w tej historii - doceniam pomysł i samo przedstawienie całego świata, jednak to niekoniecznie coś dla mnie.
Pewnie jeszcze kiedyś do tego wrócę i może za drugim czy trzecim razem ta historia spodoba mi się bardziej.

A fun classic holiday read. I’d rather read it than see the ballet if it most any day :)
The Nutcrakcer: *3.5 stars (very interesting to see how adaptations have so very much altered this story, and also that they depict Marie as Clara and also matured her much more if only to craft a romance narrative with the Nutcrakcer – puppet kink mayhaps? In any case, in this story Marie is seven and it is wholly different from what I thought it was going to be like (thank you Barbie and thank you Tchaikovsky).

General note on Penguin Clothbound classics: please fix the issue of the lettering being rubbed off when you read the book, I barely have a title and a spine left, and that is really sad. Perhaps start thinking of foiling? Or raised lettering or embossed? This painted-on method is not working, and I was already aware of this when reading Sense and Sensibility.

I found this book so weird. It may have been the translation, but I just didn't like the writing style.
Die Illustrationen durch Robert Ingpen sind wirklich sehr schön. Abgesehen davon fühle ich mich nun gerüstet, die Ballett Interpretation von Tschaikowsky anzuschauen. Ein schnell gelesene Kindergeschichte in angenehm-klassischer Sprache, passend für die Adventszeit.
I have wanted to read this story since I was a young girl. Finally this Christmas season I sat down and read this fantastical children’s story. I thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in the tale. I would very much like to share this book with my nieces and nephew, as I’m sure they would love it.
