There is so much more detail to this story than what we get from the ballet. However, it’s not nearly as romantic. 

Reading this was a lot of fun and I’m glad I did it however there was much about it that felt uncomfortable. Which was kind of the point. I personally would love to read more of Hoffman’s stories which were definitely more gothic horror and that influence made this story feel more eerie and weird than beautiful & romantic.
