So good and yes everyone deserves monuments
and no one else gets to decide that especially not old cis het white men.

Do not read this one if you don’t want major plot twist spoiled
oh my gosh mama letty killed jades mom. Jades mom did not deserve that. Pick any of her other relatives and I’d be fine with it but Amelia did not deserve that. And Ray should have lived but that’s police violence for you. Also I hate Talulah and jades dad was only able to marry her because Amelia died

I wept for the last 50 or so pages. That is the mark of a great story. Don't get me wrong, I cry at commercials, but I only cry like this if it's really, really moving.

This was a rlly beautiful book that was able to encompass so many things all at once. The end felt a little rushed and some things felt unresolved but genuinely everything else was great. Ab love and loss and life and family and queerness and race and home and finding yourself and so much all at once but it never felt overstuffed. So many beautiful metaphors and quotes as well. And had a last minute twist i wasn’t expecting at all!! Just a beautiful book.
