Great story. Loved the storyline with Persephone and Demeters relationship.

Why did I read this? Because it's labor day weekend and I have literally nothing else to do with my time -- and I needed a break from the other book I'm reading. This is going to be messy because my sleep schedule is all kinds of jacked up too.
Cons:
× Rape and later falling in "love" with the rapist. Oh boy. Just...no. I understand this is supposed to be a dark erotica fantasy but this was a little too dark for me. I didn't like how this story was basically Persephone falling in love with the person who had abused and raped her nor how the story tried to push the true love aspect in the last 30%. Hell, I probably would have accepted this story a lot better if Persephone had acknowledged what kind of person Hades was until the end and didn't play the whole "I wuv her" card. This wasn't a romance. This was a victim suffering from Stockholm syndrome.
× A good chunk of this book just felt like a bunch of one shots strung together by the tiniest thread possible.
× There was literally no chemistry between Hades and Persephone. Hades seemed more curious about her ability above anything else. They had nothing in common. They didn't spend any genuine time with one another. They didn't try to get to know each other. There is nothing between them except Hades telling Persephone how "dear/important/special" she is to her. Oh, and Hades raping her.
× There are other characters but they mean nothing to the story or anything happening, except Demeter.
Pros:
- Centuries old deities actually acted like centuries old deities instead of obnoxious children still in high school.
"I would prefer to talk," Hades said. "Like rational adults."
That's it. That's all I have. Found this in my pile of unread books that I bought forever ago and decided to give it a try, but I didn't really enjoy anything about this. I think it was too boring/bland to make me mad, which is strangely hilarious.

I love a good queer Hades & Persephone story, but I didn’t much like this one. It’s fine for what it is, but pay attention to the content warnings. They’re not exaggerated. That was an unpleasant surprise to me. This book has its audience, I’m sure. It’s at least competently written.
