I really enjoyed this book.  A nice light mystery with interesting historical fiction around it.  The writing is interesting because it is written in the third person, but chapters vary on whose perspective it is describing.

I LOVED the characters and the atmosphere. But I figured out the mystery very quickly. That being said I really did enjoy the book anyway!

A dramatic and fun murder mystery with a great historic context! While not a book about code-breaking, I loved the bits of information about the topic and how women contributed to the war effort during that time, while also highlighting the misogyny and racism prevalent in their lives--and the literal and figurative walls that divided them. Of course, we also love to see some LGBTQ+ representation in historical context--we have existed since the beginning of humanity whether broader culture acknowledged or accepted us or not.

"-I am not like those other girls you know-I am the code you never broke-"

I really loved this book. A friend of mine liked her other book NONE SHALL SLEEP and recommender her as an author so I figured I'd check this book out!
It was fun, it was suspenseful and had a romance that didn't take away from the over all plot. The crew of characters are all dynamic and play off of each other very well, they all have clear goals and journeys that while it would have been interesting to see a bit more of Dottie and Violet it made sense for the book to focus on Kit and Moya. I've never been super into thrillers before but I think I will stretch out into them more! I had fun trying to solve the mystery in the book and figuring it out before our core four.
It wasn't life changing but it was a great time and I can't wait to read more of Marney's work, I love history and it was fascinating in seeing the real life elements mixed in with the fictional.
