The Killing Code

Ellie Marney

I enjoyed this one! It's a good paced young adult historical fiction mystery! I did figure out who the bad guy was early on but it didn't take away from the building suspense and there were other surprising twists along the way! I loved the code breaking and how the girls broke Codes. A Lot of research went into it and it showed! It's a unique story and definitely entertaining! Tbr and Beyond Tours for sharing this book with me!

First of all, I didn’t know when picking up the book that there was a wlw subplot so that was a very pleasant surprise. Unfortunately I felt like the book focused more on the characters and less on investigating the murders which meant that the ending felt sorta rushed. Overall through it’s every thing I wanted in a book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. Okay, I love murder mysteries and I love historical fiction. A group of code breaking women during WWII team up to solve a series of murders in the Washington, D.C. area. The main character isn’t who she says she is, and is waiting for the other shoe to drop; she also falls in love with her supervisor while they work on the case. In the end, the twists were good but the story kind of dragged at points. Recommended for grades 9+.

i actually felt really drawn into the history of it all, like the setting was phenomenal. did you know that during war shortages girls used to draw stocking lines with eyeliner on their legs so they didnt waste actual stocking material? neither did I!

but yeah the historical aspect is really present and well researched and adds soooo much to the story itself i feel like its a great blend of setting and characters - which are always bangers when ellie marney is involved

i am so mad at myself because i guessed the killer right off AND THEN TALKED MYSELF OUT OF IT!!!!! OOOUGH
