I cannot believe I have been missing out on the magnificence that is Jane Austen's writing for this long. To write a story so mundane in nature, yet so subtly capable of incorporating the analysis of complex aspects of human nature and society in a way that is still wholly relatable and understandable for so many years after the story was written, is a testament to the genius of Jane Austen. I started listening to this audiobook late one night, being too tired to physically read a book, and I was absolutely hooked within the first ten minutes. Your brain is so quickly tuned to the language in which the story is written and you easily feel immersed in the society and captivated by the characters. Elizabeth Bennet is by far one of the most well-rounded, real and interesting leading characters I have ever read and her perception of all the happenings of the story as well as her own thoughts and emotions is highly intelligent yet also incredibly relatable. As to the romantic aspect of the story, the romance between Elizabeth and Mr Darcy is so subtle and gradual and yet it was wonderful to read the original enemies to lover's trope founders. The themes of Pride and Prejudice were also always well evident in the story and one could certainly write a whole book analysing the development of these themes in relation to the position of the plot and the characters, but instead, I will leave you with the advice that is you are to ever read a classic, this is the one to read.

I get it now. If I was alive 200 years ago I would have gone feral for this book. As it stands, I loved it! Mr. Darcy
