Hmmm maybe a 2.5. I wanted to read this despite it not being at all a genre I’d typically like. I didn’t actually find it much of a thriller though. I think the premise was super interesting but the execution was just not there. A lot of writing thst felt quite pointless and wasn’t developing the story. I think it could’ve explored the issues it was trying to tackle further and focused way less on random interactions between characters. Found it easy to race through though and did want to know what happened. Ending was weird.

I really wanted to like this book, with it being new, innovative, and not what you expect. I think it was too politically charged and had no resolution at the end. It did have you think about moral questions and what you would do in specific scenarios.

rounded from 3.5-3.7. Liked the buildup to the end, and then nothing lol.

The premise of the book really interested me, but I wanted a bit more of the thriller storyline. The setting (a New York publishing house) was very interesting, and I loved getting to see the passive aggressive nature of office work, but it felt like most of the thriller aspects were shoved in toward the end and rushed out all at once. I really wish we could have delved into those aspects more.

The premise of this book was interesting and clever. And I appreciated the focus on microaggressions - we definitely need more books like this. But there were so many places where the writing felt stilted and jumpy to me. I look forward to reading Harris' work as she goes forward though.

I was completely disappointed in the entire book, the plot, Nella, ‘Hazel’. I can not believe I had to read for so long before anything actually happened. This was a let down and hard to read. I found that the individual story chapters provided some light relief but that’s all. I wouldn’t return to this book again.

For me, this book was a slow start. I listened via audible. I honestly liked some of the twists and turns in the plots. Many aspects of the book, I was able to make self connections.

The back and forth between different characters can be confusing. Most definitely need to pause to process and think of the timeline/time frame. When reading some articles, the comparison of characters made certain aspects of the plot, easier to understand.

I do understand the comparison to The Devil Wears Prada & Get Out, that many other reviewers have said.
