A fun adventure but a lot of 'suddenly' something to move the plot along fell from the sky.
i remember reading all five books of this series in fifth grade...it was my ultimate favorite book in the fantasy genre

I'm not going to rate it more than 3 stars out of 5 because even though the story is great and the Merlin myth is really intriguing and fascinating, I was really confused sometimes and there were times when I wasn't a fan of the main character and the rhythm. But I do want to read the second installment to see how it goes and what is going to happen!
DNF because of the completely fucked up and casual ANTI-SEMITISM you'll find in the opening of the book. Thus here is your CW: kids are assaulting a Jewish person and talking about them as subhuman and evil.

Not great, this was my second time attempting to read it and it did not get easier after the years. I found the style not very distinctive, the pacing slow and the descriptions arduous, and the characters not very engaging. I don't think I'll be reading the rest of the series.
