Holy. Phew. Could not stop listening. Shocked me at so many points. An upsetting 5-star read for sure!

It was ok. I thought it was going to be disgustingly sick but luckily it didn't go that far

What a page turner!! I definitely didn't want to put it down. I am not sure how I feel about the ending but I really enjoyed this one!

I’m sorry but I’m not really seeing what everyone else loved about this book… there was no “thrill” because right from the prologue you knew Josie killed Nathan. I also felt really weird about how badly this book wanted you to know JOSIE instigated the relationship with that grown man when she was a 16 year old. They really beat you over the head with it..

I also feel like this book tried a little too hard to have an ambiguous ending and just fell flat.

Everything about this book was “meh” to me.

I’ve read a lot of Lisa Jewell books before and this is by far the best one. Lisa Jewell is the best thriller author and can easily make you come back for more. This was so unexpected and shocking and sick and everything in between. Highly recommend listening to the connected podcast on spotify after reading.

Edit: Reread after 2 years and everything about this was still so captivating and even with knowing what happens next it still absolutely shocks me. The bonus chapter left me speechless and questioning absolutely everything. I do still feel like it wasn’t acknowledged enough that regardless of what truly happened or what kind of person Walter or Josie is, Walter still groomed Josie and he should’ve been held accountable for it.
