I watched the anime many, many years ago and loved it. I figured it was time to start the manga and it did not disappoint. I'm pretty sure the movie was abbreviated so I'm looking forward to experiencing the fully fleshed out story.

Despite the stereotypical manga elements that would normally steer me away from such a work, this story is quite engaging and moves along quickly. It has supernatural elements without being too "superhero" for my tastes, and I'm actually looking forward to book two.

This is one of the most lauded mangas/graphic novels of all time, so I'm not surprised that it's good, but I am a bit surprised that I personally like it as much as I do thus far.
