To begin with, the book is as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside, and that's really a positive point because personally it makes me want to read it even more!

The story is very gripping, we immediately dive into this strange universe and I never got bored at any time. All the elements are well thought out and well connected, and I find that very satisfying because when you discover certain things, you remember what happened before and everything makes sense !! The story is also image based. I found it super original and I liked it a lot, it completes the story and makes it more real and "credible".

The only negative point is that the chapters are quite long so I sometimes had to stop in the middle of some, and I don't like doing that at all because it cuts out the action and when I took back my reading I did not really know what was going on.

Either way, I can't wait to read the following books to learn more about the characters and see how they will evolve and what will happen ! On the other hand, I discovered that there are five other volumes and I really wonder what the author could have invented to make it so long (I admit that it discourages me a little that there have so many volumes but I still want to know the rest).

Having seen the movie first and not really loved it, I didn't expect to like this book, but boy was I wrong! This is a wonderfully quirky story about self-discovery, finding one's people, and embracing weirdness. Occasionally hilarious and endlessly witty, the characters are as endearing as they are odd, and are wise beyond their years (wink wink). A quote that stood out to me was: "I wondered how such calm could belong to a world at war."

Jacob goes away to a remote island in wales where he discovers a home for children with special talents. The same home his grandfather lived in when he was a child. Jacob quickly discovers that the stories his grandfather told him were true. The home is one of many and is run by a woman called Miss Peregrine.

A slow start but it gets really interesting at the end. A real page turner. I will be buying the sequel to it. I really want to find out what happens. It’s not something I would normally read but loving it.

The beginning took me a while to get through, but when I reached a certain point, I couldn't put the book down!
