This book was a solid four star up until the last 10 chapters. The third act breakup was anti climatic and got little emotional reaction from me, and the ending was terrible and unnecessary and out of left field. And not in a good and shocking way, but in a way…”what the actual fuck” way. (Beckett would yell at me for not using better vocab but, fuck is warranted.)

I don’t think I can put into words how incredible and incredibly heartbreaking this book is. I’ve never had a book touch real grief in a way this book did.
5/5 💧😭

This book isn’t for everyone, and I’ll have to be mindful when recommending this one. But I can honestly say this is one of the most beautiful, deeply thoughtful, and touching stories I’ve ever read.

The synopsis for this book did not prepare me for the havoc that this book would wreak upon my heart. I started to read spoilers about 77% in, and I wasn’t sure I could bring myself to read the end of this book. I think I made it 8 hours before I had to pick it up again. I wasn’t sure I’d like a book without a non-HEA. Touché Rebecca. Touché.

This book rips you apart only to put you back together again. Rebecca does a beautiful job drawing you into this story. Topics addressed in this book are heavy! Even so, Rebecca does a beautiful job of addressing grief, loss, and fragility.

This book tugged on all my heartstrings and made me feel all the emotions - love, defeat, heartache, sadness, excitement and so much more. The story caught me off guard when I thought this was only a love story. In a way it was but it was not just a love story in regard to a couple, but a family as well. Love between a mother and her children, between siblings and between a single mother and a military man.

There was so much depth and portrayed so many hard emotions. I’ve never cried reading a book but this one made me come awfully close. If you’re a crier this one will more than likely get you there.

Okay. This book. Where to start…. Within the first 47 pages (literally) I cried so hard that I knew I would love it. I also immediately texted a few friends and told them to add it to their TBR. That’s big, right? To say that this book lived up to and then surpassed my expectations is just skimming the surface. This book gutted me. Literally made my heart hurt, but in a way that makes me so fucking thankful for life. This book was so beautifully written that I am already thinking about reading it again. It’s tragic. It made me sob all the way until the end. And then I cried happy tears. I don’t even know how I’ll pick up a next book because I heart is so involved with this story. Please pick it up. Please read it. But please remember it’s going to hurt but you’ll get the ending you need.

Um wow. This book was seriously an emotional roller coaster and I bawled my eyes out in the last couple chapters.

Why are we not making it mandatory for there to be trigger warnings on these books tho??? Like I get the element of surprise but there’s so many topics that are serious triggers for people.

Anyways. It took a bit for me to get into it because I thought a few things were weird but overall it was a very great book. So so emotional and I did not expect a lot of the turns in this book. I got attached to the kids especially and it broke my heart.

Coming from a mom and a sister, just wow. Be prepared to cry.

If you want to bawl your eyes out then this is the book for you. I honestly don't think I've cried so much listening/reading a book ever.

This book is sad and honestly so so emotional.
