This book was the one that made me cry. As someone who doesn’t usually cry — I found myself understanding the feelings of every character in this story.

I have never felt such emotion in a book as I did in this one. I fell in love with all the characters — watching the strength and development of them. As a 2nd grade teacher I really felt this story in my bones — seeing and feeling the ache the main character will go through with her children. As a people pleaser — I understood the pull to do what everyone else wanted.

I absolutely would recommend to anyone. Top tier writing that I have read in a LONG time.

Well if you want to cry for 95% of the book, this one is for you!

I honestly cried so much, I had a headache, puffy eyes and went through so many tissues reading this.

I was hooked from the get go, and would have to stop and pause because I knew the following pages were going to hurt.

Ella was so strong, and I don’t know how she shouldered and carried so much loss without breaking. Maisie was so strong and fearless, and I loved her twin sibling relationship with Colt. I love Chaos and Havoc so much.

Saying all this,
Colt’s death
was completely unnecessary and it just felt like Rebecca wanted to tear my heart out and stomp on it for dramatic effect. There was no need, it was already in tatters. Could we not have had a happy ending Rebecca?!

I’ve been debating how to rate this because it is very well written and a lovely story, but that final heartbreak was just too much and I don’t feel like it was needed in the story - it was just for some added heartbreak and drama, and it makes me reflect back on it with a little less enamour than I had whilst reading it.
