I read this book for a book club and I loved it. For me the main role of a book club is to get me to read books I would never read on my own. This book was that but so much more. The characters are so rich, the cultures this book exposes you to are so beautiful, and the story is so lovely. This book takes place in the Minneapolis metro which is where I have lived for 10 years was just a cherry on top. Do not let the YA or romance label of this book fool you. This book is literary and powerful.

This book is so special. I absolutely loved following mabel and audre. There was so much wisdom and love between them. This book is magical. Magical realism i saw someone say, i agree. It's so easy to read yet thought provoking and powerful. The writing is beautiful. The characters were developed so well it was easy to relate to them. I feel inspired and connected and whole :)

We have a story of two gay young women from different backgrounds brought together after one is shunned from her mother after found fooling around with another girl. They become friends and get closer as the other finds herself dealing with some health issues. I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrators, there were some really heart warming and touching moments and I think it did a lot of things well, I really like it but wish I liked it even more.
