I don’t think I’ve done enough drugs to understand this book. I was pretty confused most of the time but did like the prose and the Duncan Idaho plot line, it was kind of the only one that had any narrative through line though. I think this is where I stop the series though, it’s not for me.

I found most of this book soooooo slow, but there were some parts especially towards the end that I found really fascinating. Couldn’t finish the third one though

This second book is a shorter read and lacks the dramatic intensity of the first. However, it slows down to offer a more introspective experience. I appreciate how Frank Herbert reveals that not all heroes are flawless.

The dynamic between Alia and
SpoilerDuncan
feels a bit odd and unsettling at times...
Also in some ways, I found myself sympathizing with Irulan.
She’s caught in a loveless marriage and manipulated in the political maneuvering between the Bene Gesserit and Paul. It's almost like I mourn what she could have become, had she not been trapped by those circumstances..
