I don’t like to rate memoirs. this held my attention and was very informative.

Another autobiography about the FLDS religion. Some parts were fascinating, other parts appalling, some parts were a bit boring. Overall, I enjoyed the author's perspective... She was in an incredibly unique position. I did hope there was more on her escape, and also more about trying to adapt to the outside world. It gave me a new perspective on human trafficking and just how prevalent it is, even in North America

Half the book I listened to on CD which was painfully slow. I read the last few chapters to finish it up. I knew of this story from the Lifetime movie based on it but the book went into much greater detail from beginning to end. It is a truly surprising and dark story of life in the FLDS church. Polygamy is only the beginning of the story.

A deep dive into cults and deprogramming written from a first person point of view that really shocks you, and also gives you a kinder perspective on those involved in cults. The lessons she learns as she moves on in her life are ones we should all consider.

Rebecca Musser's testimony to what she endured while growing up in the FLDS church and her later resolve to end the escalations of abuse kept me hooked throughout the entire book. Her journey towards personal freedom and her dedication to helping others achieve their own agency is why everyone should read this book. She carefully walked and skillfully the line of demonstrating love/respect for the innocent people who are still engulfed in this culture and holding the guilty parties responsible for their manipulations. Every word of this book clearly shows her love for humanity.

An excellent overview although I think that the issue of entering mainstream society, etc is very lightly glossed over. One sometimes feels that the complete truth isn't in the book. For instance, I do feel that she goes overboard in trying to protect the adults that are still in the system. Yes, they have been brainwashed but as some point, you should take responsibility. However, a story of courage. And trigger warnings! lots of rape, sexual abuse etc.
