Would have been higher if I hadn't had to slog through 900 pages waiting for something to grab me. Not a good head for themes, so I'm sure I missed what everyone else saw. I guess the fact that nothing is resolved in any of the stories is a theme? Maybe the fact that everytime a male, and a few females, gets angry they start yelling about faggots, regardless of nationality, age, socioeconomic level, etc.?

I cannot believe that after 893 pages I wanted to start over immediately to piece together all of the details. I can't do 5 stars, because some parts really were a struggle and I almost gave up, but by the last 50 pages I was hooked again!

Una "gran obra imperfecta, torrencial", como diría Amalfitano. Va directo a mi lista de favoritos. Es un universo, una novela en la que pasa mucho más de lo que caben en las mil y pico páginas que tiene. Nunca había leído a Bolaño en serio y me he enamorado de sus imágenes y de su humor. Me ha recordado al "Ulises" por ambicioso y a "Trilogía de la guerra" de Agustín Fernández Mallo por misterioso, pero lo he disfrutado mucho más.

Šis gāja ilgi, krietni grūtāk nekā "Mežonīgie detektīvi". Līdzīgi kā toreiz – no mīlestības līdz naidam (4. nodaļa bija tik gara) un varbūt atpakaļ. Tomēr lielākais prieks, ka pēc kādu piecu(?) gadu pauzes atkal esmu piebeidzis tādu ķieģelīti.
