If only the CO2 reversal technology existed in the real world.

reviewing a Clive Cussler book is somewhat pointless...as usual, the writing itself varies between poor and atrocious, but the far-out wild conspiracy schemes, and how these are tied to historical events, are always fun and fascinating. these Dirk Pitt books are kind of like a chocolate bonbon in my literary diet...not particularly good for me, but highly enjoyable. apparently the Cusslers have gone green, as the villain this time is a fake-eco energy tycoon who is trying to monopolize something or other. there are the obligatory protypical badass killer henchmen and lots of cool new NUMA toys...things blow up and Dirk Pitt saves the day in the knick of time. what else do ya' need?

Excellent adventure by Cussler and his son.

Ok ... i owe an explanation for the poor rating on this book. I have been reading Cussler/Pitt novels for decades. I generally find them to be entertaining and fun to read; the problem here is that I know too much about a lot of the details Cussler made up out of whole cloth ... And he got it so wrong it is not even funny. From geo-political relations to arctic ice breakers to the ice pack itself ... He was just too far off the mark for me to get past it. I had the same issue with Die Hard 2 and the way they portrayed aviation technology. If you know it just "doesn't work that way" it makes it much harder to suspend disbelief and enjoy the story.

The book starts off really strong, with an exciting and fast-paced beginning that pulls you in right away. The first part is full of energy and keeps you hooked. But as the story goes on, it starts to feel a bit stretched out, and what was once exciting becomes slower and less gripping.

I also feel that if this book was read in the 2000s or early 2010s, it would have felt much more exciting. Feels more like a typical Netflix show—predictable and using ideas we've seen before.

Not his best. None are literary masterpieces, but usually the writing is good enough to not detract from the story. A number of times I stopped and thought, "I can't believe he wrote that!"

The story was somewhat less of a cliffhanger than usual, but still entertaining. None of Cussler's scenarios are meant to be taken seriously; this was no exception.

Summary, entertaining hack writing, perfect for reading on an airplane or beach.

Pitt e Giordino a bassi livelli, salvano il mondo solo una volta e quasi non trovano il rutenio per convertire il gas serra, staranno invecchiando....Il solito Cussler e il solito libro di avventure.

While sometimes overwritten and contrived, I was sucked in by the pace of the story.
