Such a fun read! This is my 2nd time reading it and it's just as enjoyable as the 1st time. Different worlds, journals from Grandpa, creatures that shouldn't exist, annoying cousins, baseball...this book has it all. It features the adventures of Henry and Henrietta, cousins living in Henry, Kansas, as they discover the secret of the cupboards and learn Henry's real history.

I really should have liked this book. Characters were interesting. Plot was intriguing, maybe a little slow to start but the last 20 pages were great. And yet, I just didn't like it. Never had that experience with a book before. Guess there is some truth to the expression that it was just not my cup of tea.

Read this to my nine year old. Overall it was pretty good. An imaginative tale about a boy who finds some cupboard doors behind the plaster on his attic room wall while staying with his Aunt and Uncle. Of course the doors lead to different worlds and the adventures begin. My nine year old followed along pretty well, but I think maybe it would be better suited for older kids. Some big words and a lot more explaining than action that younger kids might be bored by.
