I always love a good true story. I loved reading this - it had squeaky clean romance, and I loved his character in all of the scenarios. Since it’s a WWII book it definitely was gory in some parts. I feel like I witnessed humanity- how even the worst humans (Nazis) are still human. It showed the good and the bad. Also interesting reading about WWII from Italy’s perspective.

Moving true account from WWII Italy

Well written account of an Italian young man who spied on the Germans as a driver for a high ranking general. The story is high drama, with plenty of action. The account of the young man’s spy story is deeply intertwined with a love story. (The love story is very important to the story. However, I felt to much time was spent on the romance story.). This is truly a sad story of the atrocities of the Nazis.

12 hours after I finished this book and I’m still trying to recompose myself and process this incredible story of Pina Lella’s life

I couldn't get into this book, which is sad because based on reviews and my love of WWII fiction I bet it was a great book.

Not typically my favorite writing style, but the story is overall compelling. I sadly did see the twist coming at the end but it didn’t make it any less devastating.
