So good, Rick Riordan is a master of having comedy in the writing and also having the most gut punching quotes that have so much meaning to them all at the same time. The characters are incredible and the world is so rich it makes me want to go to Egypt. It has been many years since I first read this and it lives up to all of my memories of it.

Okay so I have mixed feelings. This book would be 5 stars if you skip Sadie’s weird love situation. There’s a lot of things that make me uncomfortable with it and the most glaring being that Sadie is like 12/13… also maybe I’m just a hater but both options have like zero personality. anyways I have a huge lady crush on Zia so I completely understand everything Carter.

Somehow I did not realize that this was the 3rd and last book! I kind of had a suspicion given the intro and then, as the book progressed, you could tell it was leading towards the end, but I was in total denial till I got to the end. Even after reading the end (basically says, "That's it"), I still thought, "When's the next one?" I actually had to sit there for a few minutes to have it sink in that this was the last one! How sad I am too!

I really enjoyed this series immensely and look forward to Riordan's next series since he seems to be hitting upon all my childhood loves (Greek, Roman, and Egyptian mythology/history). I thought the ending was good, but the way he solved Sadie's love issues was rather...sneaky. Hmm...I'm still not sure how I really feel about that, but it's clever, I suppose. I do really like Anubis, though. The book is rather fast paced and moves at a nice pace. I actually finished the book in 24 hours I loved it so much. It does have a very "nice" ending, but given it's a children's series, you can't have it be a downer or something! So, yes, things finish in a really neat way, but I think it works.

Star Rating: 5 stars

Note: This is the 3rd book in The Kane Chronicles series so this will not be an in-depth review.

After getting completely caught up on Rick Riordan’s other series, I decided to fall back and read his completed series, The Kane Chronicles, while I wait for his newest book to come out. This book finishes up the tale of Sadie and Carter Kane as they battle the Chaos serpent, Apophis, to keep him from destroying the world. It is also filled with the usual Riordan humor and mythological madness.

The best thing about these books continues to be the knowledge that one gains from reading them. I am consistently amazed by the amount of information that Riordan is able to contain in these funny quest adventures, and I love that he makes this normally hard concepts easy to understand for young readers. I bet many kids have used the knowledge they learned in these books in their lessons at school. I know have and I’m in college ☺.

I also appreciated how many interracial/intercultural relationships they were in this book as both of the main characters are in relationships of this type. I really appreciate that Riordan is showing these different relationships as most children aren’t exposed to that on a daily basis or at least I wasn’t I grew in a very white Southern town ☺.)

Finally, I loved how he choose to describe Apophis’s shadow as a black hole because that analogy makes perfect sense. For instance, a black hole is formed when a star or a galaxy collapses, and everything around it gets sucked into the black hole. The fact that Apophis is destined to destroy the world and cause Armageddon makes the fact that his shadow is a black hole makes perfect sense.

All in all, I loved this conclusion as I have all of Riordan’s books. 5 stars!!!!!!!
