This was a really interesting book, I think it played a lot on a very unique kind of romantic relationship that I don't really see portrayed which is the negative aspects of being someone's everything. The kind of love between the two main characters made me think about the love held between two people constantly intertwining but never quite fitting in each others lives (which I can relate to iykyk) I mean I was josh safdezzzzz muse in uncut gemszzz.

The Giant Dark is a loose retelling of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Aida is a Rockstar with an obsessive fan base; when she returns to London after 10 years she reconnects with an ex-boyfriend Ehsan and they rekindle their relationship. Ehsan follows her on tour, but soon their relationship begins to show cracks and secrets and jealousies appear leaving lives shattered.

I hadn't read the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice but this retelling sounded fascinating and it was. Aida's use of Ehsan's poetry in her lyrics and her heartbreak and Ehsan himself as her muse is her ultimate undoing as their relationship begins again so positively but ultimately declines in Ehsan's demise. I was utterly spellbound, heart breaking and beautiful.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review

This book is so interestinly written, so powerfully crafted.  It has lines that hit you hard, carve you out from the inside, and lines that make you stare into space and well up.  Reading it was a journey.
