All the characters are massively unlikeable and the book felt very British (maybe Irish) I sometimes had a hard time following what I was reading (I felt like a book needed subtitles haha)

Okay I raced through this because at first I was really hooked on the premise and the characters and the structure it was written in but I lost steam about halfway through. It just became so clear what was going to/what should happen and I thought her last bit about the wedding day was pretty confusing and didn’t have distinct enough voices for each of the characters to be jumping perspectives so much. Still, I do love the character study aspect of it.

decided to give this one a try after i should have liked exciting times in theory, but looking back just like. didn’t that much
i think this was much better than nolan’s debut, i thoroughly enjoyed it and thought her writing style was even stronger. i wish i could really help nolan cement herself in the literary world beyond the sally rooney comparisons, but if you like sally rooney then her writing style is definitely for you.
