This book was fairly cheap so I decided to give it a try. I thought it was fairly engaging up until about half way through. At that point, it felt like the book should be wrapping up, but it wasn't. I can't pinpoint exactly why I wasn't crazy about it, but it didn't hold my interest as much as I would have liked. I thought it was a good book overall. Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for it. 3 stars.

About an American woman during WWII who parachutes into France to help the French Resistance and is captured by the Germans. Her Nazi captor is not what she expects and many harrowing events ensue. Don't love the author's writing style as it feels forced and sappy at times, but I liked the story enough to go on and read the next 2 books in the series.

1944 Nazi occupying Europe was a very dangerous time, not only for the Jews but for all people that disagreed with Hitler. Rulf being a Nazi officer and a Mormon finds conflict within himself when asked to carry out the plans of the Fuhrer. He encounters a spy Maria from America (the typical BYU Mormon). The two are intertwined because of circumstance, war, love and a SS officer you love to hate.

Although I found that this book was typical Mormon Literature, and predicable, it was still worth reading. It would have been better to have a little more history, but being a love story I guess not.

I read this one because my mom liked it. I enjoyed the read. I'm a sucker for historical fiction. I sometimes got bored with all of the description and the book at times went beyond my suspension of belief. However, overall, it was a nice, fun read.

I really ended up loving this book! Full of action and romance and yet shows the struggle of LDS members on both sides of WWII. It explores the moral struggle between being obedient to a nation versus being obedient to God's commandments. There are plenty of twists and turns as well as evil villains and impossible choices to keep the pages turning. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. This book is geared more for an LDS audience, but I think others familiar with the church would enjoy it as well.

This book is about a Nazi major who is Mormon. What could be more interesting than that? Beautiful and well-written, this book was a good read.

A likeable Nazi, say what???

"Marie ran into her mother's embrace and felt warm and at peace. Her mother held her gently and sang a song from Marie's childhood.
Then her mother said softly, "Trust him."

Marie Jacobson is sent into France to join the Résistance and her fiancé, Felix. She looks forward to helping the war effort and is excited to be reunited with her sweetheart, even though the war has changed him from the man he was in America where they met. She has another secret mission that she has to keep hidden from even Felix, one that could possibly endanger all of the fellow members of the Résistance. Meanwhile, Major Rolf Schulmann has been placed into a position of power despite being forced to stand for something he could never believe in. He is a Nazi, but he faces a great personal struggle to do the right thing and still meet the approval of his superiors so that they won't suspect his treasonous heart...

Traitor is a heart-warming tale of the great miracles that can occur to those who remain faithful, especially in times of trial and desperation. What's unique about this book is that usually WWII historical fiction is told from the Jewish perspective, but this is told from the perspective of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It's really fascinating because we see the characters trying to balance their Christian faith along with what is required of them in the war, which really makes you reflect on what you might have done during those times. The romance in this book is so pure, but I wanted more of it! There were several heart-wrenching moments that had me tearing up. Grey skillfully evokes an emotional journey that may surprise you. This book is really easy to read and I really enjoyed it, which is why I wanted to read it a second time for my book-club. Probably my favorite WWII novel.

Mature content: Death, torture, mild sexual innuendo

Whitney Award Winnning Novel

LDS Fiction

I would recommend this book to any one interested in WWII fiction with an LDS perspective.

About a third of the way through the novel, I debated whether or not I would go on, but I am glad that I did--it was a good read.

My only complaint is that the novel has a sequel. I don't know that this novel deserves to be a series.

I liked this book. It was interesting, but I could see how some of it would turn out. I did want to keep listening to it.
