A bit mechanical and artificially written for my taste, but I’m an absolutely sucker for anti utopias, so I was still deeply affected by this book. I think, like “1984”, it’s one of those books that everyone should carry in their memories, reminding them that even in the most impossible circumstances you can still fight in your own way.

So, I didn’t have electricity for two days while reading this and honestly it made the whole thing so much more intense D-503’s inner struggle really got to me he’s torn between his loyalty to the system and this pull towards something more human, something real. It’s such a raw and relatable battle, even though the world he’s in is anything but. The way the book’s written is brilliant feels like D-503 is speaking directly to you, challenging everything you thought you knew about control, freedom, and identity. And the math part? Didn’t think I’d care but it actually worked the way numbers and formulas are used just added this whole extra layer that made it all feel even more intense and thought provoking.
