It’s written in a pretty sensational style, but I still think people are putting way too many assumptions about the book’s message on the author. In no way does he say drugs were the sole cause of Hitler’s poor decision making, excuse the German people of supporting the Reich due to drug dependency, nor that every single German was addicted to drugs. The writing could’ve been slightly better (though part of this feels like it’s a general issue with German writing being translated to English) and it could’ve been more clear that drug consumption was similar in other countries and militaries, but overall it is an interesting read.

Four stars because the book was interesting.

The way in which the novel was written might beg the question whether the information is 100% accurate or some information was altered to provide a wow factor.

There’s no denying drugs are interlaced in the history of Nazi Germany…the question remains to what extent.

I felt like I got a better understanding of the second world war through reading this. Also how much more hypocritic Hitler was than I thought. Also how many more deaths were caused by him and his ego towards the end of the war especially. It was a very interesting read even if it was hard for me to get through.

I really enjoyed listening to this book and literally had NO IDEA how much drug use was going on within the nazi party. The hypocrisy of hitler is so profound it’s unreal. Like literally trashing people for being less than while his ego comes from like 100mg of Cocaine with 100mg of meth. Like broooooo I hate him even more now (not for the drug use itself but he literally destroyed so many people’s lives by killing then and also forcing them to take drugs whether they were on his side or not) I wish they would have taught us more of this in school to help us understand how insane he truly was and how drugs are used in war. 4.25/5

Very interesting look into Nazi Germany. There were so many things in this book I was unaware of. Great informative read, full of new perspectives about German civilians, the Third Reich, and Hitler himself.

Overall Greta book! Found it very insightful and compelling. 4/5 starts because I found it very hard to follow at times with the complex language. Although, that’s a reader issue.
dark informative

The greatness of this book lies in the way it shows you that the Nazi’s weren’t shit without performance enhancing drugs and it’s clear that the ones in charge were doped up and incompetent at their jobs. It’s a book that says their strategy wasn’t genius, it was meth and eventually the meth stops working. This was brilliant.
