This book is a manifesto/love letter to the autistic community, particularly to the autistics out there who are only just beginning to recon with their neurodivergence.
Price holds your hand as he guides you through a process of introspection and self discovery. This he does well.
Unfortunately, while Price does say that autism manifests differently for everyone, a chunk of the book felt like personal experience projected as a universal experience that most/all the readers would also have. Ironically, Price admonishes groups and pages that “overgeneralise their experience as representative of all autistic people” all the while sprinkling that throughout his own book.
It’s a good book, certainly one I am glad I read. It would work well as a great initial read for adults who did not know about their autism until recently.

I thought this gave a great overview, and some super helpful tips for both Neurodiverse people, and people who want to learn how they can better engage.

This wonderful book inspires you to consider how to live your best life, specifically for Autistic people, but I think people with any neurotype can appreciate the message of this book. It clearly explains many facets of Autism, while retaining its vast heterogeneity and acknowledging where research is sparse because of underdiagnosis and biases historically. I think he does a great job of exploring the experiences and perspectives of Black and Indigenous people of colour, trans people, people with co-occurring disabilities, impoverished people and women.
I loved in chapter 8 how Price takes a structural look at how to make the world a more neurodiverse-friendly place, advocating for universal healthcare, universal basic income and abolishing carceral systems.
