BESTIES!!! okay so i picked up this book because it was like "Lord of the flies-esque" That was a fucking lie. Now what it IS like? Yellow Jackets but on the end of the spectrum of yellow jackets away from lord of the flies. So these girls are trapped on an island, but they live in order because they aren't going to throw piggy to his death. Anyway, it also reminded me of Our Wives Under the Sea, which I know my besties love. Would have been a five star but I didn't love a few things in it.
Anyway, read it. recommended.

the only reason this isn’t a full 5 stars was because i have read Lord of the Flies & The Troop so there was really only one direction this story could go.
BUT i did love how easy this was to read and Byatt’s perspective was something i didn’t see coming and added quite a bit to the story!

Premisa interesante pero desarrollo muy mal llevado para mi gusto. La historia me ha dejado más bien fría, los personajes igual. Es una pena, el libro empieza de manera muy potente, pero pronto se diluye en una trama sin demasiado interés. La resolución final me ha sobrado muchísimo, casi habría preferido un final abierto a esa necesidad imperiosa de cerrar toooodas las tramas.

I'm a hard sell on dystopian books, but I do love a good Lord of the Flies retelling. I loved the concept of this book, and the relationships between the girls. But I think I just wanted... more? I wanted to know why the virus was there. I wanted to know how it affected society more. We just got a hint of it and that's always my favorite part of a dystopian book.
