Via Levar Burton Reads. I love the representation in this story. There's a lot to think about in this short tale. "Please cease to exist as soon as possible," speaks volumes.

I listened to this short story on Levar Burton Reads.

I always find it so fascinating when a writer manages to sketch the outline of a fantasy or sci-fi world with very little word-count or pages dedicated to it - and William Alexander does that so well here. It was also refreshing to encounter a protagonist whose use of a mobility device was casually - and continually - referenced throughout the story; but whose disability was not the entirety or even main thread of the story. The message was clear, delivered with impact, and is something I know I'll think about time and again.

Trigger Warning: eugenics, and murder.
