This was so good! I definitely did not see some of the stuff coming. Learned more about Ronan, which was interesting. A good bit of character growth. I think Noah is my fave of the boys. Looking forward to book 3.

oh this book was WILD. i truly enjoy every magical thing in this book and damn me i like these characters A LOT. Ronan’s narration was great, i’m so glad this book focused a lot on him!!

main reason why i enjoyed this slightly less than book one is probably because it was set in the summer (i personally am not a fan of summer) therefore it lacked that “private school vibe” which i loooved.

I LOVE RONAN LYNCH.

i don’t even want to write a review i just want to keep reading this series.

some almost-spoiler-free take ways:
- homophobia was the villain all along
- I ALSO LOVE ADAM PARRISH
- who the hell is the gray man
- i did not know what was going on for 60% of this book and yet i was thrilled
- did i mention Ronan Lynch is babygirl?
- Blue is too horny to live, too sensible to die
- Gansey… honey, we’ll get back to your storyline at a later date honey
- don’t do drugs, kids!
- friendship is magic
- sometimes being Catholic is okay
- Gansey’s lapdog/Gansey’s dog
- THE MAGICIAN
- don’t google things before reading, spoiling this series is not fun at all
- Family Guy stole a line outta this book
- i ❤️ the snake boy
- Noah baby… baby boy… i’m so sorry

alright, bye. i’m going to read book three RIGHT now.

Fair warning: I have no idea how to write this review for the second volume of the Raven Cycle. Maggie Steifvater apparently has this knack of writing engrossing YA which is super readable but entirely impossible to summarize. It's not a question of complexity. I'd say it's more a matter of blurring the lines and switching genres from chapter to chapter so that there's a lot to enjoy. The first tome focused a lot on Adam, whereas this more is more about Ronan. All of the Raven Boys and Blue get their own character arc, but one is more in the limelight and this time it's Ronan, whom we discover has an ability no one had suspected but it's certainly making things more complex and thrilling. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and I'm glad I've got the last two waiting for me in my TBR!
Rep: gay MC. It was a hint in volume 1, now it's confirmed.

I ENDED UP LIKING THIS MORE THAN I THOUGHT I WOULD. The beginning lagged quite a bit; there were times where I thought things were picking up but the plot just continued to drag. All in all Miss Maggie entertained me most of the way through. I shall continue on!
