Ignite Me

I always find myself feeling flat after finishing an AMAZING series – it’s hard knowing that there isn’t any more left to the story. But I loved Ignite Me.

The rest of this review is going to be under the spoiler tab – I feel like this is one of those books where I’m not going to be able to say anything with spoiling stuff. So this is my warning to anyone who hasn’t read Ignite Me: Enter at your own risk!

SpoilerI really enjoyed this book. I loved how easy it was to fall back into Juliette’s mind and I loved her voice in this one, definitely more than her voice in Unravel Me (because there was way less stuttering and crying and feeling sorry for herself), but maybe just as much as I loved her voice in Shatter Me. I adored seeing Juliette grow. She was so powerful in this book, finally recognising that she was more than just some weak little girl with a dangerous ability. She was a leader, and that’s what she wanted to do; destroy the Reestablishment and lead. This was the Juliette I wanted to see in the last book, and I’m glad we did finally get to read about strong Juliette. But her change caused other characters to change too.

One of the reasons I put my review under spoiler tabs is because I’m a very vocal Team Warner fan, and I thought it’d be really hard not to gush about all the Warner love in this book without so obviously giving away who Juliette ends up with. But Ignite Me was definitely Warner’s book. Part of what I love most about Warner is that he challenges Juliette. He doesn’t try to wrap her in cotton wool and shove her under the covers, he doesn’t demand she do things – he wants to bring her out of her shell and let her shine. He’s more than just your average character and he doesn’t fit into any mould. He’s done some questionable things and some amazing things. Is he someone I would want to date in real life? No – because he’s kind of insane. But in the sci-fi/dystopian setting we’ve come to love so much; I can’t help thinking he’s perfect.

On the flip side, we have Adam. I can’t help feeling sorry for the Team Adam fans, because it was pretty obvious within the first 50 pages that Juliette was going to pick Warner. Adam basically didn’t have a chance. Warner dominated the opening quarter of the book, not just because he was with Juliette for most of this, but his powerful and emotional speeches showed exactly how much he’s loved Juliette the entire series, and we never really got to see the same from Adam. Adam disappointed me so much. I loved him in Shatter Me, but it seems as though while Juliette was coming out of her shell, Adam was falling into his. He wanted everything to be like it was when he first met her, and when that couldn’t happen – when he couldn’t take the thought of her not loving him like she did – he went crazy. The anger he showed Juliette was horrible. I felt really crushed by his reactions. I can’t blame him for feeling hurt, that the girl he loved wasn’t his anymore; but he really flipped. At the same time, he was sort of forgotten this whole book. He became a background character, instead of a main character. I feel like Tahereh Mafi didn’t know what to do with his character now that Juliette wanted Warner.

You’ll noticed I went straight to characters and the love triangle, before the plot for this one...well, that’s because there wasn’t much in the plot except Juliette falling for Warner completely. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it – but that’s because I’m a Team Warner fan. Can’t fault lots of Warner if I love him already. But in terms of action and doing stuff, it was all rushed at the end of the book. The remaining members of Omega Point, Juliette and Warner all decided to work together to defeat the Reestablishment, and to save the twin healer girls who had been kidnapped by Anderson – Warner’s father and the supreme commander of the Reestablishment. I was so excited for this, I thought there’d be a giant rescue scene and lots of fighting; especially after they decide everyone needs to train up. We got to watch Juliette learn to attack with her powers – and she got really good at this. And then...the actual rescue didn’t come until so late in the book that there was almost no time left to save everyone and wrap things up.

I did love the book – like I’ve said over and over, because of all the Warner love – but I sort of wish there’d been a bit more action. Mostly because Juliette was ready for it. She was finally no-longer scared of her powers and the strength she had from them. So it was a little disappointing not to get to see her shine for a longer length of time.

Overall, a Warner-love ending to the series – so I can’t be too disappointed!

I- i cant explain this either much helpp

but ignite me is my fav even tho Adam was being a terrible bitch throughout the book. i'd say it's pretty good! Tahereh. this is a bigggg masterpiece

this was the Aaronette love story, the starting of their love ok? And Aaron around Chapters what 55 to 60? he was wow. Ok Juliette you pulled the biggest W picking Aaron over Adam, i hope this one lasts frfr

And Kenji and Juliettes friendship gets sillier each time, i love their partnership, Kenji got that humor and i love him for that >>>

And the ending twist of Juliette becoming the new commander is that it? is so coool! and how she manages to reunite with all her friends is fun too!

I love this book in the series, this might be my fav one >:DD

What the hell just happened. I was literally reading the Acknowledgment page not realizing the story was over, I had to go back to the top of the page again before I realized what was happening.

It was over, done, right mid scene!!!! WTH!!!! What happened to everyone!!
But I guess it is a testament to the author that I want more & More & MORE!

If you were Team Adam I can understand why you didn't enjoy this and were left bitterly disappointed.

But thankfully I was firmly Team Warner & therefore absolutely loved it :)
