good ending to the series! I will definitely want to own and reread these graphic novels!!

*

There are a couple of different plotlines in this book. Navin and his friend Aly are in school, but the city of Lucien has been destroyed, and they go down to activate a communication beacon. They run across these shadow spirits and have to run from them and try to flee the city. At the same time, Max wants to break his curse and needs Emily to do it. When they try to stand up to The Voice, Max dies. Emily and her friend stonekeepers save the ship and find the people who fled the city. Book six ends with some bots setting out to Lucien because they received a signal from the beacon.

I really wish that we would have been able to read the first book of the series, because by the time we have gotten to the sixth book, there is a lot of backstory that I just don’t understand. I was able to fill some holes, but it would have been easier starting from the beginning. I did like the style and all of the colors of this novel. There were a lot of onomatopoeias and action scenes that are represented much better in a graphic novel than I think they would be in a book…and with less words! One thing that I think would have been good to have was a clearer chapter distinction. Sometimes I would turn the page and have to pause and readjust myself to the other story line.

Again, it's getting better and the stakes are getting higher! I love the new characters being introduced and the scope of this world. I miss Leon. Please give me more talking foxes

As I journey through Amulet, there are some good parts, some great parts, and some ho-hum parts. I don't know if Kibuishi is moving the story along and the readers have to go through some growing pains of if I'm missing a larger point.
My main complaint is that I forget some of the characters/plot points and Kibuishi doesn't do a good job of referring back. Maybe he expected the readers to read these over and over again and we would remember Balan was from.....????
This volume also had finer plot points that I glossed over or were not explained clearly. Suddenly this girl from that place is trying to turn on a beacon? Was that discussed?
I think this series suffers from too many characters, too much plot at times. At other times, it's so tight and works so well is truly amazing, almost transportive.
I'm going to finish the series (well, 9 is still out there) because it's good enough to complete. And if I missed something, that's on me. This isn't the first time I've felt that something is missing so I think it is a lack of editing.

Love the Amulet books. This one didn’t disappoint and I cannot wait for the next one!

- I'm getting bored with this series.

- I thought this was the last volume, but it isn't. I don't think I'll finish the series.

- The illustrations and architecture aren't impressing me as much any more. I want more story.

- The story isn't going anywhere. I want more action! The pace is so SLOW!
