Still aching from this. Sort of reminds me of Call Me By Your Name, in a way. Makes me want to have a really good cry.

We get it you have a piss kink. Very gross book, a special type of feminine rotting, depravity, and horror? Idk. Woo feminism, woman can be nasty too. Dead on name. Rotting fruit imagery, very fallen Eve, whole thing kind of felt like a dark, forest-y garden of Eden with spiders, mushrooms, and apples showing up repeatedly. Like happy she could be gross and happy with her roommate, gasp and they were roommates. The roommate is just as nasty and possessive as she is. Beautifully gross and carnal unification of these two women. Obsession and desire to the point of wanting to be one, to be bound together, to be a “black, dead and rotten fruit” together.
Reminds me of things have gotten worse since we last spoke, although less nauseating and dark. I think it’s a pass.

Not really as disgusting as I expected. Moreso drawing attention to disgusting facets of everyday life.
I did enjoy the pulp novel within the novel.
I've had worse roommate situations tbh.
My overall reaction is: huh. I liked it, but, huh.

I have no idea how to rate this book. The writing is beautiful and evocative, but I just don't have enough of a piss kink to really love it.
