Very dated language, chauvinist perspective and a cavalier attitude towards social ills dampen my appreciation for an imaginative, and at the end almost lovecraftian, first Contact story.

I got 86 pages in and I suppose a lot had happened but it wasn't really gripping me, I could easily take it or leave it. Then, the 'n' word was used and I just couldn't be bothered to read anymore of the crap
