Still charming and containing the same style of the first book. I didn’t find it quite as laugh out loud funny as the first novel. It was still nice to check in on Luc and Oliver. I liked how some of the conflict came up, but the last part’s conflict was a bit annoying as it “had” to go to the last minute.

I couldn’t get into this one like I did the first. It was constant fighting and the ending was so abrupt

This was infuriating to read. We spend the whole book arguing about heteronormativity and balloon arches and then
we don't even end up GETTING MARRIED????? Oh my god. What was the point of anything that happened? I thought they were finally maturing and then they're like ohhh I can't go through with it last minute.
Also every scene with the friend group killed my soul. You are all so utterly incompetent in such an infuriating way.

Second read: enjoyed it just as much as the first time!

First review:
I don't understand all the bad reviews for this book, I LOVED this, and I thought it was such a good sequel. I was either laughing or smiling through most of this book, and the end made me smile so hard.

This book is a fantastic representation of the romcom genre with such big Four Weddings and a Funeral vibes (which is literally what happens in the plot LOL), and every side character is a joy to read (except for Lucian's dad and both of Oliver's parents who are all assholes), and I of course loved having more time with Oliver and Lucian.

To be honest, Boyfriend Material's ending was a little lack-lustre for me personally, so I was happy to have this sequel to wrap up their story properly. And the ending was so tongue-in-cheek! If this was the end of the road for these two characters I'd be perfectly happy with it, but I hear Father Material is in the works, so I am definitely looking forward to that.

The first 3/4 of this were so good, everything I loved about the first one in all of its over-the-top romance novel glory. And then the last part happened and maybe it just pushed me over my limit for miscommunication, drama, and conflict. I don't even hate it I just think it would have been a lot better if it was done differently. I acknowledge that romance novel conflicts are always divisive, but this one just wasn't for me. Although considering the expectations I had going in, enjoying the majority of this book is much better than I expected.
