I really wanted to like this book. I love the idea of it. But it was way more than just a slow burn. When you finally get to the good stuff, your mind gets blown and then the ending just sucks. I wanted so much more from this book, unfortunately you’re not going to get it.

I really like Natasha Preston's writing!
That said, I rated this book 4 stars. I always like her characters and plot lines. This one seemed a little familiar to me (reminded me of one of the books in the Beautiful Bastard series by Lauren Conrad), but then the twist in the middle REALLY threw me for a loop! I was also happy with the ending. :)

I really liked the first half and then there was a twist that ruined it for me.

Second Chance by Natasha Preston

Chloe’s boyfriend, Jace, died during a terrorist attack. Logan, Jace’s brother, was the person she turned to when her thoughts became unbearable and She made him a better person.
The problem is, the lines begin to blur and they struggle to decide what is okay, and what is not.
My husband actually recommended this book to me, as he is the biggest fan of Natasha Preston. However, this is my first book by her.
I really loved watching the relationship between Logan and Chloe blossom throughout the book, however, even though the plot twist was unexpected, I do not like how it was carried out. Without giving away any spoilers, I cannot go into much detail but I do feel like issues were resolved way too quickly and the book continued to run in circles.
This book was just not my cup of tea and my husband said it was a 4 star for him! If the synopsis interests you, I would definitely recommend giving it a try as it is a very fast read. I definitely will be giving her thrillers a try, as my husband claims, they are the best.

Only reason I’m being generous and giving this two stars is because of the twist in the end. That’s it. I didn’t see that coming. But overall. Terrible. The story was just going in circles and circles I couldn’t stand it.

I enjoyed this book! I have read a few Natasha Preston books on Wattpad and love her stories. I really thought she did a good job in portraying the hurt that everyone felt in losing Jace. I thought she could have done a better job of describing Chloe's feelings in the beginning a little better; she just looks at Logan one day and realizes she has feelings for him. I would have liked to have witnessed her mind shift from friends to more than friends a little more slowly than it being like a switch was just turned on and all of a sudden she liked him. Also I found myself getting a little frustrated with Chloe sometimes as her thought process didn't make sense to me at times. However, I did like how well Natasha showed Logan and Chloe's guilt and back and forth on if they should be together or not. I was really shocked by the twist towards the end and thought it made the book better! Overall I thought it was a pretty good red.

This was an okay read. But I still feel that I'd pick it up to read again.

The characters were alright. Logan and Cassie were probably my favorites. Logan is a total sweetheart and Cassie is a great friend to Chloe and an amazing sister to Logan. I love how supportive Cassie was when it came to Logan and Chloe. That goes with Logan's parents too. Logan's parents were exceptionally accepting as well towards Logan and Chloe despite their other son who had passed away.

Chloe i felt frustrated with at times. I felt as though she was too back and forth with Logan. Which I can understand as Logan is Jace's brother and she felt guilty for moving on with the brother of her dead boyfriend. But I was happy with the ending that Chloe and Logan got.

And the plot twist was amazing. I won't say anything about it as it'd be a spoiler if I did but I absolutely loved it.

I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes a slow burn romance.
