3 ⭐️ - Writing is mediocre, but still an entertaining story. I will say that Patroclus & Achilles stay the same throughout the story, not much character development, unfortunately.

this is the most beautiful love story i've read in a long long time and i bawled my eyes out during the ending... my chest literally hurts omg. i didnt know who patroclus was before but now he'll be with me forever (and briseis too!!!)

Reason why I didn’t give 5 stars was because at some points I was a little confused by all of the names and characters. It probably doesn’t help that I was reading via an audiobook.

I absolutely loved this book. If you’re looking for a faithful retelling of the Iliad, this isn’t it, but that’s not where its power lies. The writing is beautiful and poetic without ever feeling overdone. I completely fell in love with the characters and their relationship; their love story felt so genuine and tender. By the end, I was heartbroken in the best, most moving way. It’s one of those books that stays with you long after you finish.
