This is unconventional as a romance as the love between the two of them is the constant driving force for all their actions, the motivation for every last thing they do. There would be no story without the love between them. But, I really really just wanted more romance! It’s more of a story about the human condition and how love and fame effects it rather than an out and out love story. What’s truly incredible about this book is Madeline’s writing. The writing, more than the plot or characters or romance is what made me not want to put this down. It’s incredibly accessible to someone with little to no knowledge of the classics and it’s elegant prose is accessible to non avid readers as well.
