this book suffered the recurring problem of 'it would've been better if I read it in a shorter period of time - before I started to get bored' [3.25 stars]

a novel i appreciate conceptually. i don't personally care for the prose, and victor is sometimes annoying, but it's by no means a bad text.

This book is interesting to read because it is so totally different than our popular perception of Frankenstein. That Mary Shelley warnings to us about the moral dilemmas of science continue to be valid - if not even more so today than in her own time. However, as a story it is not too engaging, the writing is very typical of her time period. I am very glad I read it, and I may read it again, but it is not as enjoyable or easy a read as a story such as Dracula.
