Daphne moves to L.A. to attend college and be near her boyfriend. She quickly finds herself feeling alienated after she has a fight with her best friend, her boyfriend dumps her and her roommate seemingly hates her. While wandering the city she stumbles upon an apartment building that is occupied by ghosts.

This is a collection of 4 comic books. I hadn't read anything by this author before. The artwork was good and the story has promise. The tale didn't quite pull me in as much as I'd hoped. It came off as very introductory and didn't get us too involved in the story (yet). The story will likely be continued in a 2nd volume as this one didn't wrap things up completely. I am curious to see where this story goes so would checkout follow-up volumes.

I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It was alright, I was trying to find a nice little comic to read. the story was interesting enough to keep me entertained but overall, I wish it was longer. Then again that could just be because I don't have immediate access to the next volume.

This was a fine volume. Reminds me of the TV show Ghosts though lol.
I am obsessed with the art and colour palette.

I really enjoyed the art in GHOSTED IN L.A. and I’m intrigued by the story. I liked Daphne right off though she’s pretty terrible at staying out of trouble. But she’s also only 18 years old and after having her heart broken, it’s expected that she’d make some rash decisions. We get a little backstory on a few of the ghosts as well as learn some of their extra powers but a surprise appearance of a new ghost will definitely make things interesting.

I thought this was going to be more 'Cemetary Boys' but it ended up being more sitcom-y. still fun! I love reading comics in one sitting.

I've been having pretty good luck with graphic novels lately and this one is another to add to the pile. I was a bit wary of the start, which came out of nowhere, but it ended up just fast-tracking to the actual story so it ended up being alright.

We meet our main character, Daphne, as she's fresh in college with that all too familiar existential crisis, when luck should have it that she stumbles upon a manor of ghosts. As far as main characters go, she was well-written although a little bland in comparison to the rest of the cast.

I really enjoyed the various backstories of each ghosts and how the art was drawn to fit the era. There's a lot of little nuances that make the story feel more realistic, despite being paranormal.

My only criticisms are that the text talk in the story is pretty unbelievable and is written like how adults think college students talk. That paired with the fact that Daphne so easily accepted that the ghosts were real and treated them like she just ran into a kind stranger was a bit odd. It would have flowed better if she had spent a few pages panicking and then came back out of curiosity.

The largest criticism that I have is that the plot is paced pretty fast. It jumps from scene-to-scene and sometimes leaves some things out of explanation. It would have benefited from a little bit more detail for each chapter and could have easy been double the amount of pages and flowed much better.

Overall, it was a good read with diversity and stunning art. It's a 3.5/5 but I boosted it since the problems didn't overshadow the enjoyability of the work.

Note: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

'Ghosted in L.A. Vol. 1' by Sina Grace with art by Cathy Le Siobhan Keenan is a graphic novel about being ghosted, in more ways than one.

Daphne Walters moves to Los Angeles to go to school because that's where her boyfriend is going. Only, she is stuck in a dorm with a roommate nothing like her, and now her boyfriend has decided that they shouldn't be together. One night, on a walk, Daphne passes a beautiful home with a swimming pool. Along with the swimming pool are a collection of ghosts from different eras that live in the house. Now Daphne has a cool place to live and a new set of strange friends.

I really liked this story. It's definitely a good set up for a series, and I really like the atmosphere that the book takes. The art includes lots of nicely designed characters. I'm sure this won't be my last visit to Rycroft Manor.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Boom! Studios and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Okay, if I'm being honest, when I first finished reading this one, I didn't think that it was going to be my next favourite read. But, after a few days of letting it sit, I found that I couldn't stop thinking of it. I loved that we were immediately thrust into a place where we have a bunch of ghosts, which we have yet to know more about, become invested in Daphne's life.
