This has been a long-standing family favorite. I love it when an author has the ability to climb back inside childhood and reflect that perspective in an entertaining way.

It's hard to be a kid. That's the main message behind this story. Alexander has the worst day ever, one where everything that could possibly go wrong does, and young readers will be enthralled with a protagonist who isn't afraid to tell how hard life can be. I can definitely see how this is a classic and how it has lasted with generations of readers.

It made me laugh lots, because I know I have had days just like Alexanders. Cute.
