Missing in Flight by Audrey J. Cole
Narrated by Renata Friedman
My mind does crazy things sometimes and with this book that takes place on a commercial plane and my friend, Jayme, being a flight attendant, I couldn't help picturing all the female flight attendants and the female copilot looking just like Jayme. My brain can be a bizarro world sometimes but it can be a fun bizarro world.
Makayla Rossi is traveling with her sleeping baby, a baby that has just started to stay asleep, and rather than waking him by taking him to the airplane restroom with her, she signals to the teen stranger near her that she'll be right back and to watch the baby. When Makayla comes back to her seat her baby is gone and it turns out that the teen didn't understand what Makayla's gestures had meant. Now the baby is missing and there is really no where for the baby to have gone when the flight is in the air but even with the help of the crew and passengers, no sign of the baby is found.
Makayla is freaking out and although she has good reason, I'm very glad I wasn't stuck on this flight with her. Once investigators on the ground start looking into Makayla, her husband, and the extremely high profile, big money bank he works for, everyone is a suspect and possibly the most suspicious people are the parents of the baby.
Pass the popcorn and inflight drinks! There are times when just making one little move would have solved the mystery but that's not how things play out. It's a very entertaining but possibly far fetched story. One of those stories where I'm very happy to be sitting a home rather than on a flight even if there are numerous Jayme's running around in my brain...I KNOW if she was really there that this mystery would have been solved quickly. We read too many mystery/thrillers for these things to go on for so long. This is my second book by this author and I'm going to look over her other offerings now that I enjoyed this one.
This was a KU audio selection.
