Although I did find this an enjoyable and interesting read, I found the pacing to be massively off. I would much have preferred it as two books: the first focusing on Broad's JET experience, the second on his life after that. I do also see what others mean about it being a bit of an extended advert for his YouTube channel! And I guess I am always hesitant about white / Western authors writing memoirs about their time in other countries... However that is not to say that I disliked this book at all!

I have been an avid viewer of Chris's videos for years, and I am thrilled that this book is a superb addition to the content he has created so far. It is a perfect mix of humor and seriousness, spiced with a hefty portion of facts about Japan and its culture. Hands down, one of my favorite books about living in Japan.

Interesting, amusing and surprising, Chris Broad moves to Japan to teach English and continues there, starting a YouTube channel which will grow even more now due to this book! Great from start to finish.
