While Mia's increasing neuroses get more and more unhinged, I feel like she easier to handle this book. Still very annoying, and the politics of this series are seriously unpc, but I felt like (while seriously none of Mia's "problems" are actual problems) she was more toned down than book four. I thought nostalgia would bouy me through this series, I don't think that anymore.

"How many times do I have to tell you, Amelia? Men are like little woodland creatures. You have to lure them to you with tiny breadcrumbs and soft words of encouragement. You cannot simply whip out a rock and conk them over the head with it."
What can I say? Just like Mia, I'm quite enamored with the idea of prom being this beautiful, magical, and romantic event (probably because I never had the opportunity to go to prom, or any dances for that matter). I must add that the dress that Mia wore sounded stunning, and I love how pretty, sparkly, and PINK it was. Also, I still love Michael, he's honestly super great, and I fully believe that if Mia had asked him sincerely to take her from the beginning, he would've accepted because of how much he cares about her. And you know, I feel quite vindicated about Lilly's 'heartbreak'. She deserved everything she got, and more! She's always such a nasty bitch, and continues to be a bad friend. I literally felt so much rage from all the crap she pulled this time around, it's insane. Well anyways, I hope that the sixth installment will be just as fun.

I almost thought that waking up very early this morning was a good thing. Almost. Because that meant I could finish the other book early, which meant I could sneak in another Princess Diaries book! I think I'm in a weird sort of mental state at the moment. I want to read some mind-blowing books making me cry, but on the other hand I also need these comfort reads I can just read with a smile on my face knowing all will be well in the end.
The princess diaries is such a comfort read and I'm constantly looking forward to reading the next book in the series. The story is so light and so young and so funny and so Mia. I already told it in previous reviews and I will happily tell it again, but if you're looking for some deep and interesting plot, you're not gonna find it. If you're looking for something that will entertain you endlessly, because it's just so amusing? You will like this book.
In this book it's not just Mia being in a state of drama (Mia is always in a state of drama, apart from the last few pages in every book), but her friends are going through some heavy times too. Her best friend is suddenly falling pray to hormones (it happens when you're a teenager, right?), another one of her friends has their heart broken (happens to teenagers a lot too) and another one is struggling getting over a broken heart.
And then there's Mia. Mia wants to go to prom, but Michael finds Prom stupid. And believe it or not, but basically this entire book is about Mia trying to come up with ways to convince Michael to ask her to prom, without her actually telling him that she wants him to ask her to prom. And it's just so Mia and she writes it down so funnily and she has such a great way of looking at her own stupid mistakes. I just can't help myself. I just love her.

This series is a great escape. Each covers such a short period of time that they're pretty superficial, and this one, all about Mia wanting to go to Prom, is one of the more superficial storylines. But it's still fun and entertaining, and a good quick read.

This book should have been called Prom Princess.
Of course, Mia and Michael keep giving me life ♥
Lily, on the other hand, was completely awful.
