First things first, I literally devoured this book! It was recommended to me via booktok and omg so good. I was a little hesitant at first given so many of the bad reviews, but I actually enjoyed the story. There’s not very many romance books out there about folks in their 40s finding love.

Both Dominic and Allie are very likable, but also have some pretty significant baggage. I think that they are an accurate portrayal of what people in their 40s are like. I think, falling in love after a certain amount of time with unresolved baggage comes with like dramatic, childish antics. However I really love the story I thought it was well done. I love the banter back-and-forth between Ally and literally anybody. I like the idea of an office romance that’s like forbidden, but like everybody involved to eat the forbidden fruit. The spicy scenes in this book to die for even when they were worlds apart. I felt like the sexual tension buildup was done so beautifully in this book, and like painstakingly slow, where once it finally got to the time it was like finally!!   😂 anyways I enjoyed this book thoroughly. I read it in like less than 24 hours. I thought the book was going to be over, but I like it kind of wrapped up nicely towards the end. Especially with the loose end of Dominic’s father.

The book was by no means perfect, but it was highly enjoyable.

I love this! Lucy Score is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read more of hers.

I have to say, I was pretty disappointed by this book. It was hard for me to like Dominic right from the beginning (I can’t stand people who are rude to servers) and it basically never got better. I felt bad for him and I understood his trauma, but he never learned the lesson that every other character was literally screaming at him the entire book: you can’t use your trauma as an excuse to treat other people terribly.
He’s manipulative and controlling even when he’s supposed to be winning her back and he never listens to her. She spends the whole book telling him that she doesn’t want his money and it’s very clear that she wants emotional support, so what does he do? Throws money at every problem (despite her explicitly telling him not to), ices her out at every chance he gets, and makes decisions for her like some kind of patronizing a-hole.
I like Ally and I genuinely think she deserves better, I basically wasn’t rooting for them at all by the end.
