I enjoyed the story line and the way the story is told through out the novel. Every time you think you have all the information, something different is brought to light.
Didn’t know starting the book that it was set during Covid times. I would’ve waited to read it if I had known - it’s all still a bit too fresh since I am writing this review in bed with Covid myself (mild thankfully). I appreciated the authors explanation at the end about why she set during the current pandemic and agree with her about capturing a moment in time, which she does depict very well, but it’s just a smidge too close and didn’t help the desire for escapism. Would’ve been 4 stars if not for the Covid setting.

What a disturbing book lol. She really knows how to write disgusting things. I really enjoyed this and how dark it was, while also talking about important events and things like Covid, pedophilia, childhood abuse, and drug abuse. I really loved the sister relationships(she always does such a good job with it). I really liked how strong our female characters were. This did make me cry which I wasn’t expecting.

Leigh’s terrible past is coming back to haunt her. She’s forced to represent a man who knows what happened 20 years ago and he’s out for revenge.

This started out fast as the first chapter was brutal. The ending was also action packed, but a lot of the middle was very slow and I kind of skimmed to get through it faster. There are also parts that are very hard to read.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I was glad it wasn’t as courtroom centered as I was afraid it would be. However, there were a lot more details on some things than I expected and it was hard to read. I don’t even know how to put all my thoughts into words because I’m kind of still reeling.

Side note, this book has very long chapters.

Great hard-hitting thriller.  I stayed up too late to finish this one.

Read with a friend for bookclub. Wow! A dark and graphic thriller set during the pandemic. She manages to navigate the world of addiction and sex abuse while still intertwining a meaningful plot line of the love two sisters have for each other. It is not an easy read, it’s pretty dark, as she uses vulgar and explicit language and digs deep into the reality of these real world problems that some people face everyday, which is what makes it a great book.

I would reccomend it, but it is not for the faint of heart and would say there are some topics people might find triggering so read with caution. It is a bit of a slower pace, felt a bit repetitive in the middle, but it really picks up about halfway and gets you hooked and pulls at your heartstrings.
