I can see why these books are so popular! Well written believable characters, I just wish there was a little more depth to the story. It was very linear, which is a good thing as it made it easy to read, but i would like it if there was a little more - more settings perhaps. I am very excited to read the next book, I hope I find out more about the world outside the city.

It’s been about a month since I’ve finished this series, and now I’m ready to elaborate why it’s a five star book to me.
First off, the Final Empire is one of the best books I’ve ever read. It begins with a story of a small thieving crew with mysterious characters, and evolves into a powerful epic of rebellion, religion, and trust. The characters in this book are second to none. Each one has their own unique personality, and stands out perfectly from one another. I’ve seen people not enjoy the “bickering” or talking between the characters in this book, but I personally enjoy it. It really gives the writing some life and accessibility. I actually was most hesitant for reading this book because of the world at first, but I was SO wrong. A harsh world is not a poorly made one, but the opposite most of the time. And this world is so harsh. Volcanoes, mysterious mist, ash, earthquakes, and all of it ruled by a sadistic and authoritarian god emperor.
I don’t want to spoil this story, and I won’t. But really, this is an unpredictable and shocking story. It’s dark, and tackles some really important aspects of trust, religion, and the powers of good and evil. I love it all. My rating for this book, and I would write it in metal (but I only have a phone), is a 5/5. You won’t be disappointed!
